Lipo and A Void

This week we had to read and “Lipo: First and Second Manifestos” by Francois Le Lionnais. the rest (the third half) of A Void by George Perec. These two pieces made me go back and think about the time during class when we had to write about what we did that morning without using the letter “E”. In the piece by Lionnais, he brings up the idea of writing in lipogram form. I thought it related a lot back to A Void because in this novel Perec doesn’t use the letter “E”. I honestly didn’t think this book was going to have any meaning or thought to it and it was just going to be an accomplishment to the author for writing an entire novel on not using the vowel “E”. This book is actually very interesting and is opposite of what I thought it was going to be.
